Dear Loch Norman Highland Games Patrons and Sponsors:
These last 10 months have been challenging for everyone. Many businesses and organizations have had to make some hard decisions, and Historic Rural Hill has certainly been among them. Normally this time of year we would well be underway planning next Spring’s Loch Norman Highland Games. But we still face such uncertain times and ongoing restrictions.
The time, effort, and expense to produce the Loch Norman Highland Games is significant to make the Games complete for you, our Patrons and Sponsors. Thousands of people are vital to make the Loch Norman Highland Games a success. If any part of this group of people are missing, then our Games are not the quality event everyone has come to expect over the past two dozen plus years. To that end, the staff and Board of Directors of Historic Rural Hill cannot see a safe path forward to putting on the Loch Norman Highland Games in 2021. Current restrictions on travel and gathering limits for COVID-19 would not allow us to host this event, and we have no assurances of what the restrictions will be in April of next year.
Aside from our full-scale event, we are still exploring the possibility of holding limited competitions for our pipers, drummers, and athletes that must compete to maintain their rankings. If we are able, we will hold those events, likely without spectators. We will try to make the athletic events available via video feed. This effort is not in any way intended to replace the Games, but to maintain continuity of the competitions.
For those of you still holding tickets, sponsorships, and registrations from the 2020 Loch Norman Highland Games, we respectfully ask that you continue to hold those for 2022, which will keep you locked into 2020 prices. We understand that doing so is asking you to put a lot of faith into us. Please know that we are making our best effort to stay on track to produce a quality Loch Norman Highland Games when it is safe to do so. Your support allows that to happen. We understand your continued sponsorship and support is the true meaning of “patronage” – and it is a two-way street. We intend to fulfill our promise to you by producing a Loch Norman Highland Games in 2022 that will be well worth the wait.
We wish you a safe and happy Holiday season and we look forward to the time when we are all together celebrating again.
